Communitymedlemmar i Öresund fortsätter att träffas så ofta vi kan och
fortsätter att planera möten och aktiviteter ihop.

Formerna för detta ändras från och med idag.

Vi som är communityaktiva har sett att vi hellre har en grupp i Malmö och en
grupp i Köpenhamn. Den senare är ju den etablerade CNUG – Copenhagen .NET
User Group.

I Skåne har vi bestämt oss för att göra en satsning tillsammans med resten
av NUG-Sverige och då heter ju sammanslutningen SweNug.

Därför annonserar vi – precis just nu:

…en helt ny NUG i Skåne!

I SweNug Skåne kommer vi att:

* jobba för att anordna träffar i Skåne precis som tidigare.
* prata med våra vänner i Danmark precis som tidigare, åka dit ibland, en
del av dem kommer hit ibland och någon gång då och då ordnar vi träffar
tillsammans.
* prata med alla våra vänner i resten av SweNug. Ordna träffar tillsammans
med dem – code camp – och kanske dela på talare och annat så mycket vi kan.

Vi råder därför alla medlemmar som är intresserade av att träffas och dela
kunskap och/eller några öl tillsammans då och då att:

On April 8, we’ll have an evening launch event of Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framwork 4.
Microsoft representative Dag König from Microsoft DPE, a.k.a. @buzzfrog, will be there and gave some hints of giveaways or prizes at our last pub meeting.

There will probably be some sort of contest, so bring your laptop with latest VS2010 RC installed (official release is not until April 12)!

Den 25 Februari 2010, från kl 18.00, ses vi för en pub-kväll på Bishop Arms i Malmö precis mitt emot Centralstationen.

Vi kommer sannolikt att prata en hel del om kommande Visual Studio 2010 och .NET Framework 4.0 då vår kväll gästas av Dag König på Microsoft som just nu jobbar för högtryck med lanseringen av dessa nya produkter. Release av VS och .NET Framework är satt till den 12 April i Sverige så det är mycket snart.

Det är bra om ni slänger iväg ett mail och anmäler dig till altdotnetoresund@live.com så att vi kan se om vi blir många som ska få plats på Bishops Arms!

The next meeting in Copenhagen will be on Thursday October 1st from 18:00 till about 21:00. The guys at BestBrains will host the evening’s meeting in their offices (for directions see below) and will provide light refreshments. Sune Gynthersen from BestBrains will start off with a presentation titled “Test-Driven Development and Beyond”, in which he will share his experiences working with and teaching about TDD. After the presentation we will continue with open space sessions about test-driven development and whatever other .Net-related subjects people feel like discussing.

Because space is limited this time, people who want to participate are required to write to altdotnetoresund@live.com.  BestBrains’ offices are located at Strandgade 4, 1401 København K, which is in Christianshavn, only 5 minutes from the Metro (Christianshavn Metro station).

If there is anything you would like to discuss at the meeting during the open space sessions, feel free to suggest it here. All input is welcome.

So, I noticed that I need to update my presentation somewhat. It’s been a while since I wrote the Hello World blog post, and avid readers might have seen the New job post. Summing up, this is who I am and what I do.

My name is Thomas Lundström. I am at the time of this writing 29 years old and live in Malmö in the southern part of Sweden. I work as a consultant at Softhouse, one of the best software development offices in the region of Skåne. The last years I’ve mostly done work in the tech lead type of role in software development projects, but the technical role isn’t the only thing that ensures success. That’s why I always try to keep an eye for better processes.

Tech-wise I slant somewhat towards development in the Microsoft ecosystem. Since joining Softhouse I’ve done stuff in the Java EE/J2ME space as well, and I actually quite like it (except for the number of target platforms in J2ME; developing for 4 browsers is nothing compared to that). I try to stay in mental shape, so in my free time I play around with stuff other than what I do at work. Right now I’m doing some lab stuff with Ruby on Rails, and I really like it; I even described it like this: I work with .NET, but I have an affair on the side with Ruby.

Before joining Softhouse I worked as a developer at Qbranch in Malmö, and before that I was a Program Manager at RemoteX in Stockholm, Sweden. I have M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (“Industriell Ekonomi”) from the Linköping Institute of Technology (i98 for those of you who wants to know).

When I’m not doing tech stuff I try to keep in physical shape; badminton, floorball, weight-lifting and running are the sports I currently do. Other than that I like cooking and baking; preferably I bake with sourdough.

The Code Camp will be held in Malmo on Sunday August 30th. It will be a full day event.

All facts below but first up here is how you sign up:

All you need to do is send an email to altdotnetoresund@live.com and you are signed up for the event! You may also include appropriate information from the list below:

• Indicate if you have any allergies or other food preferences since we will try to arrange snacks, foods, drinks and coffee at the event.
• Another thing you can also input is if your firm would like to sponsor the event in any way. Coffee, snacks, beer, fruit? Surely we will need refreshments and we plan to go have a bite to eat. Sponsorship yields an honorable mention on our web site and a the event plus it is damn nice of you.*

Note 2: We will hold a raffle with prizes from the list of attendees signed up for the event. Only people who have signed up are eligible for the raffle prizes. Your company is free it raffle off a prize as part of any sponsorship!

Now for the announcements:

We have a full day to fill three large rooms with what ever interesting content we like! Discussions may also spill over into the main hall outside our event rooms. This event will be filled with sharing of knowledge and learning among friends!

The facts are:

• One full day from 9am to 5pm on August 30th.
• Great facilities at Malmo University a stone’s throw from the Central Station. If you can throw a stone 600 m that is? Here is the map of the location: Malmö Högskola “Gäddan 8″, Citadellsvägen 7. You cross the road from the main entrance of the Central Station and keep to the right across the new bridge with the construction site. The target is 600m from the station straight ahead.
• We have three separate rooms to host activities.
• We make the schedule ourselves. Here is the thread at our forum for pre-planned content: forum
• Surely there will be Open Space.
• We can have some sessions if we like. There is plenty of room.
• We can set up group work activities.
• Likely we will round off the day with dinner and a pub.

Malmo University have made great effort to supply us with fabulous rooms for our Code Camp in Malmo in August. BIG thanks to Martin Wetterhorn for being so very easy to work with and eager to assist!

The ALT.NET Oresund activists (through Magnus Mårtensson)

The next meeting will be held at ITU on Thursday, June 25th! The meeting will start at 18 and end around 21-21:30. We will meet at auditorium 3, which is the same place that the first meeting was held.

The last couple of meetings have consisted of one headlining presentation followed by several rounds of open space sessions. This has worked out pretty well, so we will continue this way for now.

The headlining presentation for this meeting will be about the recently released nUnit 2.5, and it will be held by me (Martin N Jensen). I will walk through the major features of nUnit, giving special attention to the newly added features, and I will also compare it to other unit testing frameworks. I will try to focus on how to utilize the features of the framework to produce clear and expressive unit tests.

After the presentation we will get to the really interesting part of the meeting: the open space sessions, so remember to come up with some interesting subjects that can make for heated dicussions! I will be fresh home from NDC 2009, the new meeting place for progressively minded software devs, so I hope to have a lot of new ideas to discuss.

I hope to see a lot of people at the meeting, and also some of the Swedes this time around!

All right, it seems as if we’ve gotten the ball rolling. We’ve had two meetings this far, and from what we can see, the interest of ALT.NET seems to be high in this corner of the world.

This time we are teaming up for a night of fun and geekery at the office of the sponsor Softhouse in Malmö. We have managed to get the brilliant Niclas Nilsson to prepare a talk for us, and naturally we’ll have some other fun stuff, like lightning talks and open space discussions. We’ll keep discussions on the topics in the google group, so if you have an idea of a great topic to talk about, don’t hesitate to drop a mail there!

The address is Stormgatan 14, in walking distance from Malmö Central Station, for you arriving by train. If you’re not sure exactly where it is, search for the address at hitta.se. Get in the front door, in the elevators directly in the front of you and go to the 5th floor. If there are any problems with you coming in, call +46 (0)70-6643977 and we’ll let you in.

Since there will be some food, we ask you to register by sending an email to altdotnetoresund@live.com to let us know you’re coming, and if you have any special wishes for food due to allergies or other preferences, please state it in that e-mail.
